Dear Campers and Parents: Thank you for registering for Rising Stock Basketball Academy! If you are receiving this email then you are confirmed for camp. As communicated in a previous email, our camp will end on Thursday. Thank you for your patience and understand during this challenging camp planning process. We are eagerly looking forward to greeting all of our campers on Monday morning. We have a great week planned that will certainly be enjoyable and beneficial to you as a basketball player. Listed below you will find answers to frequently asked questions. *Is there anything we need to do prior to camp starting? Yes. Please complete the COVID-19 waiver prior to the 1st day of camp. https://forms.gle/M922LqtCargHqCs99 *Is there anything we need to do prior to dropping off my child each morning? Yes. Prior to dropping off your child you will need to complete the daily COVID-19 screener. Please complete this form by 8:15 each morning. https://forms.gle/8CAneUAYpshUUUb47 Campers will also be screened at drop-off with a touch-free temperature check. *What time should campers report in the morning and be picked up at the end of the day? We ask that all campers be dropped off between 8:45 and 9:15. Campers can begin getting picked up at 2:50. Please be aware that drop-off/pick-up will take longer than usual as we adhere to recommended guidelines. Please make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle when they get to the drop-off point. *Where should campers report in the morning? All parents should enter the St. Bede campus using the East entrance. If you were in front of the school, looking at the school it is the entrance to your right (opposite side of the building from the church). When you turn into the entrance just continue straight to the right of the building and follow the directions to the drop off area. Campers should not get out of their cars until they are greeted by one of our camp counselors who will be taking a touch-free temperature. Parents and any other family members should remain in their cars. *Where should I pick my child up at the end of the day? Parents should enter the St. Bede's campus using the same entrance as the morning. Follow the directions to the pick-up area. Your child will meet you at the pick-up area. Parents should not park or get out of their cars. *Should campers pack a lunch? Yes. Due to the current situation we will not be selling lunches this year. Campers will eat with their grade group during lunch. We will use the cafeteria and, if weather permits, we will encourage campers to eat outside. Social distance rules will be in effect during lunch. *Will there be a concession stand? Yes, we will have a limited menu at the concession stand. Water - $1, Gatorade - $2, Candy - $1 *Is the camp indoors or outdoors? Both. We have been running our camp in this fashion for 25 years. Once the campers are divided into their grade groups they will rotate through activities that take place in the gym and outdoors. There will only be 1 group in the gym at a time. Due to the governor's July 16 orders we will make sure there are not more than 25 people in the gym at one time. *What happens if it rains or it is too hot outside? Believe it or not, over the past 25 years rain has never been much of an issue for us. Under normal circumstances we would bring all of the campers inside for a whole camp activity. Obviously, this year is different and we will adopt the baseball camp philosophy. In case of rain, we will bring our grade groups inside to areas where we can keep them socially distant and wait it out. For health and safety reasons, we will not run a whole camp activity in the gym. In the event that the radar shows the rain remaining for an extended period of time we may make the decision to dismiss the camp early. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Over the past 25 years we have had a few excessively hot days. If there is a day that we know is going to be excessively hot we may move the start of camp up by 1-11/2 hour to 7:30 or 8 o’clock to take advantage of the cooler part of the day. Camp will end 6 hours after the designated start time if we need to adjust the start time. *Will campers be required to wear a mask? Campers are asked to bring a mask with them to camp for situations that may require them to wear it. Campers should wear their mask when they are dropped off in the morning and keep it on until they put their bag/belongings in their designated area. Once they place their bag in the designated area they can proceed outside without their mask. Campers will not be required to wear a mask while participating in camp activities. *What should campers bring with them to camp?
Basketball– Campers will be using their own ball as much as possible for skill stations and other camp activities/competitions.Plenty of Water
This is a first for us as we usually ask campers to leave their balls at home. Please make sure your child’s name is clearly marked on their ball. We will be giving every camper a basketball. Please let me know if your child will need their ball at the beginning of the week. All of our balls look the same so it will be helpful if they have a ball that they can quickly distinguish as their own.
Hand Sanitizer (highly encouraged) – We will have sanitizer stations but it would be helpful if each camper had their own in their bags as well.
Reversible pinnie if you have one (not a big deal if you do not have one) or a light and dark t-shirt. This will be helpful for our 3v3 & 5v5 games since we can not allow campers to share camp pinnies.
Parents should put sunscreen on their child before camp. You may want to put sunscreen in your child's bag. Our counselors for our younger grade groups will assist with reapplying sunscreen as needed.
Basketball or training sneakers, a T-shirt, and shorts.
Please leave all jewelry, watches, and hats at home.
*Will campers be playing competitive games? Yes, campers will play 1 v 1, 3 v 3, and 5 v 5 within their grade groups. Sanitized basketballs will be rotated into play after each game of 3 v3 and 5 v 5. Campers can use their own ball for our 1 v 1 competition. Campers will be directed to the sanitizing station after each game and when they come out of a 5v5 game for a sub. Here is a link to the Rising Stock Basketball Academy Health and Safety Plan
